How do i keep my fondant covered cake firm when cuting?

I have made a chocolate cake in the past and crumb coated it before placing fondant on it and when it was time to cut it...it sunk and was dificult to cut...and now I'm making my 1st wedding cake out of red velvet and don't want this to happen...what do I ned to do?
